Print quality is our obsession at Striped Circle!
High quality music prints and posters are what we are all about - let us give you a glimpse into our focus on ensuring every music art print we produce is the best quality possible...
Whilst we mainly refer to our work as "prints", the word "posters" does occasionally slip in - but mainy because our customers tend to use the word posters to describe all print material. We prefer to think of our designs as "artwork" and artwork has to be printed on high quality paper, right?
All of our music art prints are lovingly designed with the end result in mind and that "end result" is you, our customer, opening their delivery and being wowed by the quality of their new prints.
With this in mind, the paper we have selected is an off-white, archival museum-quality matte paper.
Our smaller prints (A5, A4 & A3) weigh in at a meaty 312 grams per square metre - that may not mean too much, but it's a good weight which feels like a nice card rather than paper. It is uncoated and a great choice for art prints as its designed to last for many years without losing its original beauty.
Similarly, our larger prints (A2 & above) print on 250gsm paper - a museum quality archival paper that looks stunning!
Here's some more technical information (and a glimpse into the geeky nature of producing high quality prints):
- The papers we have chosen are perfect for fine art prints. They are all matte paper, uncoated and natural white (off-white) in colour.
- With alkaline papermaking technology, this paper is acid-free, meaning the pH of the pulp that is used to form the paper is above 7 (neutral) - we did warn you our obsession was 'geeky'.
- The paper is also buffered with an alkaline reserve, such as calcium carbonate, to neutralize acid compounds absorbed from the atmosphere or formed through natural aging. This ensures that your print will last many years without any yellowing or discoloration.
- Our paper is free from (or very low in) OBA (optical brightener additives). This ensures that the natural white-ish colour of the paper remains consistent under different lighting conditions. In contrast, the colour of papers that contain optical brighteners can shift depending on the light source.
- Additionally, the colour of OBA-free paper remains more consistent over time so that you can enjoy your print for years without any shifts.
- We use FSC-certified paper as it’s better for people and the planet.
- We promise not to bore you with any more info.
